Dreamy Draw TT3: Shaw Butte

This TT is climbing up Shaw Butte, start with your rear tire against the taller power box by the gate. Finish at the brown sign in a box at the first tower (don't take the asphalt road downhill to the next set of towers, stay left always climbing.)

This is a standing start, and you should start recording your time just as you take off. Count all time during your ascent of Shaw Butte (meaning that if you stop then you need to count that time as well - not just moving time.)

This ride, according to rubiTrack (which uses Elevation Correction from the raw GPS file) says that this 1.37 mile ride has 723.3 feet of Ascent. Rumor has it that the mountain goat riders can do this in the 14 minute range, I'm personally going to be very happy with anything less than 20 minutes.

The results are displayed down at the bottom of the page.

Remember:
  • Your time for the TT is the full amount of time from when you start to when you cross the finish line. Make sure you are reporting stopped time as this is included too, we are not only considering moving time.
  • Feel free to post a link to your GPS route in the comments section.

The Time Trial Challenges on this site are intended to be for fun. Please don't push yourself so hard that you put yourself at risk, or try to ride beyond your ability and crash. Additionally, please be respectful to other riders, hikers, and equestrians. MTB riders must yield to all others and yield to other MTB riders who are on the uphill ride. I ride with an IncrediBell so that I can alert hikers that I'm coming, they hear the bell far sooner than they would otherwise hear me. And it weighs a whopping 31 grams so even a weight weenie shouldn't have issue with it.

Dreamy Draw TT2: 1A Mine Trail

Quote:
"Wow! this was much tougher than I thought it would be, this ride burned the legs."
TacoBeer

** This TT had to be changed slightly, the starting trail which fed into 1A was shut down by the park service people. **

To get to the starting line of this ride, from the Dreamy Draw parking lot, go up the ramp which leads up to the picnic tables, continue up the sidewalk past by the restrooms, and up to the big sidewalk. Go southwest for 1/4 mile and you will see a Trail sign on the left, this is the start of the TT. I was holding onto the sign, pressed my start button on the GPS and started.

This is a standing start, follow the trail straight ahead for maybe 20 yards and you'll bear right into a wash, as you come up out of the wash on the other side bear left and that is the main 1A trail that you will keep ascending to the summit. It used to be an old jeep road that you stay on all the way to the ultimate summit. After you summit, keep on 1A and descend to where 1A meets T100. Come to a complete stop at the brown marker post marker on T100, stop recording your time.

This ride, according to rubiTrack (which uses Elevation Correction from the raw GPS file) says that this 0.92 mile ride has 216 feet of Ascent, and 83 feet of Descent for a total elevation of 299 feet.

I rode this TT2 this morning in order to get the updated GPS data, and completed it in 8 min 3 sec total time, (I had 15 seconds off the bike on the penultimate peak and this time needs to be included - not my 7:48 moving time), there was a rock mess that I wasn't comfortable riding over. I definitely won't be the fastest, and hopefully not the slowest. I mention this because many people have their GPS's set to only record moving time, but these TT's count ALL time.

The results are displayed down at the bottom of the page.

Dreamy Draw TT1 Full T100 East to West

This is at the request of TacoBeer (MTBR User). This time trial covers the entire T100 in 1 direction only. The ride starts at the Tatum lot at T100 and goes all the way to the end of T100 at 7th Avenue. By the way, the official route when you are coming into the DD parking lot is to go down the stairs and NOT go down the ramp. If you aren't comfortable riding down the stairs then walk your bike down the stairs. The ramp is a no no.

This ride, according to rubiTrack (which uses Elevation Correction from the raw GPS file) says that this 10.65 mile ride has 743.5 feet of Ascent, and 853.3 feet of Descent for a total elevation of 1,596.8 feet. TacoBeer completed this ride in 1 hour 5 minutes 21 seconds - but he needs to ride it again to count in this Time Trial - but that is a benchmark number for us all at this point.

The results are displayed down at the bottom of the page.

Remember:
  • Your time for the TT is the full amount of time from when you start to when you cross the finish line. Make sure you are reporting stopped time as this is included too, we are not only considering moving time.
  • If you Garmin Connect, EveryTrail, or Tweet use Tag: #T100TTE2W
  • Feel free to post a link to your GPS route in the comments section.

Upcoming Dreamy Draw Time Trials

I'm no speed demon, but I love to trail ride my MTB. :)

Thought it might be fun to compare times with fellow riders.

I suggested Dreamy Draw (DD) to Tatum on the Trail 100 Highway, but some people over on www.MTBR.com wisely suggested some less traveled routes so as to avoid conflict with hikers.

There will be a minimum of 2, and maybe 3 different sections for a Time Trial, I'll ride them with my GPS and post the routes and get everything all setup pretty soon.

Does anybody have a ContourHD helmet cam that we can video the short TT's with? I'm not sure I want to try and strap my Camcorder to my helmet. :)
